APOCALYPTICA - Post-Concert Report

Journal Entry: Tue May 13, 2008, 12:26 AM
  • Mood: Happy Tears
  • Listening to: Versailles and Apocalyptica
Last night, I watched as 5 incredibly talented gentlemen sawed away at their cellos and hammered their drums, dissonance and melody somehow fusing into incredible, thrash-inducing music that was wasn't just rhythmic noise and screaming. I had the pleasure of witnessing one of the most unique live acts in metal music today: the Apocalyptica "Worlds Collide" Tour, Dallas stop.

"Worlds Collide" is the name of Apocalyptica's latest album, notable for the many original songs with added lyrics sung by famous metal vocalists. Though it's not my favorite album (I prefer to just listen to the cellos' voices...), they have been doing an extensive world tour to promote it since early March. (learn more at the band's Myspace: [link] )

I literally cried tears of joy when I learned that they were going to do a Dallas show...and those tears were certainly worth the awe-inspiring show I was blessed enough to see last night.

[more later, guys... including pictures! :D ]

Anything odd that you need to either float from your body, or be quickly removable. It's also a neat way of putting cloak like pieces on for fantasy work, because you can limit where the cloak originates from with the slide in bracket, and quickly remove it if necessary... it gives a cool fairy-like effect to everything...

Well, cosplay is my "main" art, and it's the only one I really talk about. xD When you tell people you write haiku, it just sounds so...pretentious? Nerdy? Even more weeaboo-ish than previously thought possible? xD

Hey, you have some nice stuff! I didn't realize you draw and write poetry and stuff too. I should put up some stuff I've written, don't know why I didn't think to do that on here. And someday I shall have cosplay to put on here XD
~Kagitsune:iconKagitsune: May 1, 2008, 6:25:36 PM
Well, Dir en Grey *used* to be very Visual-kei, but you've got the right idea. :D However, visual kei is more of a genre or "musical focus" than a particular music style.

For instance compare this [link] and this [link] . Both of these bands are considered as "visual-kei", but they have radically different musical and visual styles. What qualifies them as visual kei is the obvious *focus* on the look itself. Of course, some (i.e. many =_=;; ) VK bands focus too much on the look, and their music begins to be lacking... v_v

But don't tell the fangirls I said that. xD

Heyyy, you're back! ^^

A lot's been happening...I enrolled into college, am working on some new cosplays, and am about to go nuts with all the end-of-year exams I have to take! >_< All that's keeping me going are the Apocalyptica (Finnish cello metal quartet) and Versailles (Japanese visual-kei symphonic metal) concerts I'm going to see this month. :D

Hmmm, I'd like to see those wings! I'll look in your gallery... ^^

And what else do you suggest to use the wire bracket for? :?

`taeliac:icontaeliac: Apr 29, 2008, 8:27:55 AM
Oh! Definitely useful for wing work, too! I've done a couple of pairs with a similar idea, and they work out really well - actually, there are a surprisingly large amount of things the wire works with :giggle:

No, no... thank *you*! It's very clearly written and useful for both cosplay and authentic kimono outfits (kitsuke, I think)... and seeing how the 'loop-clip' mechanism works will be really helpful for making wings, too! :D
