John T. Unger is an artist who makes beautiful, original “Fire Bowls”, works of art created from recycled propane tanks. However, he, like many other artists, is having his art illegally copied and sold. But here’s the kicker: the knock-off maker is suing the original artist.

Sounds crazy? It’s more common than you think. The copier sues first, so if the artist runs out of money before the trial is finished (and they often do), the copier wins by default.

That’s where we come in. By spreading the message and by donating, even if it’s just 5 bucks, we can keep Mr. Unger, who built his business from the ground up, from losing to a greedy businessman. And if we help him win, imagine how it might change copyright laws and practices for artists across the country.
